Wait....What....

We had our ward fall festival this week and naturally there was a chilli cook off. So I saw all the different chilli's and I grabbed some of the most normal looking stuff right... WRONG

Sister K: (a sister in the ward) "Hey sister which one did you get"
Me: "no clue but it looks the same as yours"
Sister K: "wait yeah it's kind of spicy right?
Me: "it doesn't taste like normal chili but it's good... "
Brother W: *comes up behind us "oh yeah we just got back from hunting that's wild cougar and deer chili
Both of us in unison: *looks at each other "wait... What.... "
We are both from southern California lol but I ate cougar and deer!!! Cool right!

These past couple weeks have been tough to catch people because of hunting season but it's just about over I think so that's good!

Anyways this week started off in a pit... literally a pit.... but it wasn't just any old pit it was a corn pit!? A brother in our ward has connections at Linder farms and they have a corn maze, hay rides, carnival games, and a corn pit! They let all the missionaries in our zone go and do all this for free with no one else there! How cool is that! It felt like grad night but in the day time.

This week we decided we wanted to get closer with the youth and work with them more. So we thought why not start in seminary. The seminary president is a brother in our ward who we met with and he gave us the lesson plan for this Wednesday. I'm kind of nervous it feels like we are teaching a real class.... It's in the middle of the day and a real school class.... It's soooooo weird!

This week we also found a new sister to teach! Her name is Ashley and she is a young mom with a 2 year old boy Emmett. He is a handful and the one lesson we had, she was super distracted by him. But we found a solution! A play date lesson! A family in the ward is going to come with us and their kids will play in a room while we teach! Fingers crossed that this will work! We haven't been able to meet her husband yet because he is always gone at work too, so hopefully we can meet him soon!

This week we also had a scripture study with Violet and her three granddaughters. Violet is a recent convert and her granddaughters are continuing to meet with us until their year mark is up and they can be baptized. They understand the scriptures perfectly every time and they love learning new things.

We also went to Zumba with Tammy! She said she is going to start coming every Monday and made a friend today! Good thing we will be going to Zumba more often because we eat lots of food here... It is a 40lbs mission 🤷️ there is food everywhere. For our ward fall fest somehow I got signed up to be in a pudding/pie eating contest.... How... I couldn't tell ya but I'm not complaining haha

Our other ward had a trunk or treat and there was a family that we met there who ended up coming to church the next day! They are a young couple with 2 little boys. They are a part member family, and we are excited to get to know them better!

I have recently been studying/working on sacrifice. "Sacrifice means giving to the Lord whatever He requires of our time, our earthly possessions, and our energies to further His work. Our willingness to sacrifice is an indication of our devotion to God." We have been struggling to find people to teach and I knew we were working super hard so I didn't know what the issue was. Sister Bubert told me about a 40 day fast. Where you write down little things that are stopping you from being exactly obedient
ie: technology, working out, always being missionary minded
And you write down everything you need to work on and pray and let Heavenly Father know what you're giving up for forty days (and hopefully after that time is up) so I did just that. I wrote everything and so far I have been working on this sacrifice for 5 days and have already seen so many blessings like Ashley, or the family that came to church. I challenge you to find something this week to sacrifice for the Lord. He will see your efforts and he will bless you!

Welp anyways that was our week, I hope you had a great week as well!

Love,
Sister Bailey :)
