This was possibly the best week any missionary could ever
have in their life. We got to teach 7 lessons this week, 2 of the people we
taught committed to being baptized, Elder Neil L. Andersen came to speak to
us...AGAIN, we sang in a mission choir, I saw Sister Hansen again (my MTC
compy), we helped a member who left the church come back and she is being
baptized this next week!
Wow. I really want to start with the people. They are amazing. They have so much faith. One girl named Sofia (15 yrs. Old) she is on fire. We have been teaching her the gospel and our beliefs and she is loving everything. She is one smart cookie. She texted us throughout the week whenever she had free time to have another lesson. We taught Sofia 3 lessons throughout this week because she wanted to keep learning! This is how the beginning of our last lesson went:
Sofia: so I already know who I want to baptize me can we do the 7th of September?
Us: ....wait what? You want to be baptized!? That's awesome! We might need a little longer to prepare/finish lessons and have your interview
Our brains: *confusion
Sofia: ok I can do Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday of next week for the lessons.
WHAT!?
It was too good to be true!
She told us that she already knows who from the ward she wants to baptize her and who is giving talks and such (she came to Tori's baptism so she knows how it works haha) she has continued coming to church and mutual every week and asks for more "homework" for us to leave her! She has such a strong desire to change and follow Jesus Christ!
Then we had a lesson with Linda. She has a firm testimony of the restoration of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints. She knows the book of Mormon is true and wants to come to church but she is moving to Sumpter (about an hour away from baker but still in our area) and it's getting crazy. She is still on date for baptism from last week but we hope the move doesn't complicate things.
We also had a lesson with a married couple. He explained that growing up he wanted to become a member of our church so bad but never received a confirmation from heavenly father that it was true. We encouraged them to read the conference talk "Hearing His Voice" by elder David P. Homer. The said they would and that they would take some time and decide together if they wanted to take the lessons and let us know. A couple days later we had dinner at their neighbors home and she made homemade bread and asked if we would deliver it to this couple. We did and they offered to take us on a hike in Anthony Lakes today! WOOHOO!
Ok ok so then at the end of this week we had exchanges in New Plymouth and that was a wild ride. We lost an hour of sleep so we were dead tired Haha. We stayed there 2 nights so we could stay closer to town for our mission conference (where I was able to see sister Hansen again). Yeah so once again Elder Neil L. Andersen came and spoke to the mission! It was AMAZING! He is truly inspired as well as Elder Carl B. Cook, and Elder Matthew L. Carpenter who spoke to us! We sang the song "Testimony" for them as a mission choir. It was extremely powerful. One thing that stood out to me was when He said to have your own personal conviction! He said to personally ponder the question, "What do I really Believe?" then to ask yourself, "What do I think I believe?" Then to have fervent prayer and study unceasingly to find your answer. I know that God answers us eventually. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is a God of miracles. We see them everyday, a miracle is when you see Gods hand in your life, a miracle is great or small answers to prayers. If you look with Faith and take action on what Heavenly Father asks you to do, you will see Heavens power drop down in your life.
