*Shows up to church on Sunday: ward 1
Brother Guerra: Hey sisters can you give a talk?
Us: uhhhh
Our internal thoughts: Alma 11: 29
Us in real life: sure... what's the topic?
Brother Guerra: just some of your favorite book of Mormon stories and tie them into whatever you want
Yeah ok so we gave talks in the first ward we went too. Not tryin' to toot my own horn but it wasn't too shabby.
Shows up to church on Sunday: ward 2
Brother Stocks: hey sister... *looks at name tag... Bailey! Can you give our opening prayer?
Me: yeah sure... do you want sister Karsten to do the closing prayer?
Brother Stocks: no just you :) thanks!
Me: •_•
*shows up to church on Sunday: ward 3
Sister Hindman: sister Bailey will you offer the closing prayer of our meeting?
Me: ok Heavenly Father what is your goal here.
Haha I guess I need to work on being submissive to Heavenly Fathers will.
Ok wait you guys I have AWESOME news! So we found 4 new people who want to take the missionary lessons! WOOHOO!
One lady (April) requested a bible online and we got to deliver it and meet her and her daughter (Sofia). We talked for a bit and introduced the book of Mormon, they were so excited about it! Sofia came to mutual and church in Sunday! April had surgery and wasn't able to attend.
We also found a lady named Jeanie who is so sweet and we just met her while visiting someone else. She is very interested in learning more! And Andrew the 4th person just showed up to church one day and kept coming and bore his testimony last Sunday! He wants to take lessons we just are struggling to find time with the members and him with his work schedule! This area is booming!
Other exciting news we were able to have another lesson with Margaret and AJ. Luckily Margaret is doing better! We talked about the plan of Salvation and they believe everything. They were not opposed to anything we said. They just don't quite understand that this is the full truth.
We had zone conference this week in Weiser Idaho. It was weird. The first zone conference with the new Boise missionaries. Being over in Baker Oregon, there is a joke with the missionaries. Everyone calls the Baker Oregon banishment because its so far away from everyone. You don't really see anyone and the only missionary within 1 hour any direction is your companion lol. So it was weird driving to Weiser to see everyone.
After Tori met us up there so she could be interviewed for baptism by president Nygaard!
I am SO STOKED FOR TORI! next Saturday!!! Its happening!
After zone conference and the interview, we headed back to Baker and did some service for a lady named Joni! We love Joni! We got to help her out with some housework and we will be able to read to her after our service! I know she would definitely love if we read the book of Mormon to her!
Then to finish our week there was a baptism in Caldwell (Sister Karsten's last area that she served in) so we got a ride over there! It was a long drive but so fun!
Scripture of the week: Psalm 143:10
10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Everyday I have been studying one hymn, and while studying I came across this scripture. We always learn how important it is to do His will. But how exactly do we do that? How do we know what voice is His when there are so many other voices? It says "teach me to do thy will" in order to let Him teach us we must first be willing to learn. School is starting up soon, all the stores have back to school supplies. We PREPARE ourselves to learn in school by getting the supplies we need, LISTEN in class, and take ACTION (homework) with what the teachers assign us to do. Same thing for this scripture. If we want to be taught by the Lord we must first PREPARE ourselves and gather all of our tools (bible, book of Mormon, general conference talks, come follow me book, journal, pen). Then we must LISTEN to the spirit and what it whispers to us. Then take ACTION with what we must do. If you have the faith you will see miracles from listening to Him and submitting to His will.
I love you all!
Love,
Sister Bailey :)
