Hey all! Ok good news! Trio life is the best!!! Man oh man
it's a good time here in Baker City!
So my new companions are, Sister Higginbotham, she also goes by Sister Higgie, she is from Virginia (she has a southern accent and everything, she also is a temple square missionary and got sent here for 2 transfers) and Sister Stevenson is from Arizona (she doesn't have an accent but she is still cool) !!!
So you can get to know them a bit, I asked them what the craziest randomest fact about themselves is and this is what happened:
Sister Higgie: uh.... my favorite color is blue...
Me: what... that's the craziest randomest fact about yourself? Blue? Do you have like a favorite type of blue like navy or light blue?
Sister Higgie: hmmm no just blue.
(I Later found out she speaks Russian and taught people the gospel in Poland and Ukraine and stuff online!?)
Sister Stevenson: *out of nowhere in a super monotone voice* I got hit by a bus once
Me: ....
Sister Higgie: .....
Sister Stevenson: ....* looks at both of us back and forth
Me: ....
Sister Stevenson: ....
Sister Higgie and I: HAHAHAHA LOL WHAT???
HAHAHA I love them!!!!
We are all so pumped for the work and ready to go!
Ok so I'm sorry but I gotta keep this email short so here are some quick updates on people we are teaching:
Sofia: she is being baptized the 21st and she is beyond stoked still! We finished all her lessons and are planning on having her baptismal interview!
And...
Jess:.... so, we show up for family home evening with Jess and the members who host it. GUESS WHAT!!!! Jess has committed to work towards being baptized before the end of the year around December! And possibly sooner if she feels ready! WOOHOO!
We also have 3 other people who we just met who want to take the lessons and be baptized... MIRACLES!!! the people here are so ready to hear and receive the gospel of Jesus Christ!
We are so excited for everyone and the work!
Oh also... random funny moment Haha we went to a home to visit a little girl and her dad to get to know them and to see if they are interested in being taught. She wants to be baptized and we are super pumped for that! But while we were talking to her she picked up a jar outside and was just randomly playing with it, then she screamed and threw it....and you guys... THERE WAS A DEAD FROG INSIDE!! it caught her so off guard, she was sad for this poor frog and so a funeral was had for the dearly departed frog...
Spiritual thought:
"To sacrifice is to give up something valuable or precious, often with the intent of accomplishing a greater purpose or goal." Sacrifice is something we talked a lot about as missionaries this week. We thought about something that may be hindering our missionary work, or something stopping us from seeing miracles. I encourage you to ponder on something that may be hindering your capacity to see miracles/blessings, or something to increase your faith. Whether that be, a more thoughtful sacrament meeting, or stronger prayers, or a deeper personal study in the scriptures. Once you think of that thing you are willing to sacrifice for greater blessings, I encourage you to read in Genesis 22 about Abraham and Issac. But replace the word Issac or son to, whatever it is that you are giving up and the word Seed to blessings. I know as you sacrifice this thing for something greater, you will become closer to the Lord and you will see blessings.
That's about it for this week! Sorry this email was so random and kind of all over the place! Till next week! Love you!
